Posters come in many sizes — but how many pixels do you actually need? This guide covers the most common poster dimensions in inches and pixels, at 300, 200, and 150 DPI.
Common poster sizes
| Poster size | 300 DPI | 200 DPI | 150 DPI |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24×36 in | 7200×10800 | 4800×7200 | 3600×5400 |
| 18×24 in | 5400×7200 | 3600×4800 | 2700×3600 |
| 12×18 in | 3600×5400 | 2400×3600 | 1800×2700 |
Viewing distance matters
The bigger the poster, the further away it’s viewed. That’s why 150–200 DPI is acceptable for large prints — your eyes won’t notice the missing detail.
